Start Your Structural Bodyworks 3-Series Journey

This page will help you understand what the 3-Series is and how to prepare.
There is nothing you need to study — just explore what feels useful.

Why a 3-Series Instead of One Session?

The body changes through process — not force.

One session may help you feel relief, but lasting change usually requires support over time.

The 3-Series is designed to help your body reorganize step by step:

  • Session 1: establishes foundation and support

  • Session 2: improves breathing and upper-body balance

  • Session 3: brings the whole body together

Each session builds on the previous one.

This allows changes to integrate more naturally, instead of being temporary.

The Structural Bodyworks 3-Series is a short series of sessions designed to help your body:

  • Find better support

  • Move with less effort

  • Reduce unnecessary tension

Each session builds on the previous one.

  • Session 1 – Foundation (feet, balance, pelvis)

  • Session 2 – Breath & upper body (ribcage, shoulders)

  • Session 3 – Integration (whole body coordination)

This is not about forcing change.
It’s about allowing your body to reorganize with support and time.

What is the 3-Series?

There is nothing you need to study or practice ahead of time.

A few simple guidelines can help your body get the most out of each session:

What to wear

Structural Bodyworks includes both hands-on work and movement observation throughout the session.

You’ll be asked to:

  • Walk

  • Stand naturally

  • Move comfortably

  • Notice how your body responds to gravity and support

For this reason, clothing that allows clear movement and comfort works best.

For Men:

  • Compression style underwear or athletic compression shorts work well

  • If you prefer more coverage, lightweight athletic shorts or swim trunks over compression wear are completely fine

For Women:

  • A sports bra or comfortable bra with underwear works well

  • Athletic wear or fitted movement clothing with shorts

Most importantly, wear something you feel comfortable moving and walking around in during the session.

During your session

Structural Bodyworks is a collaborative and interactive process. Your practitioner may:

  • Observe posture and movement

  • Ask you to walk or stand naturally

  • Reassess how your body responds after hands-on work

  • Ask for feedback about sensation, balance, or support in specific areas.

This helps us better understand how your body organizes and adapts throughout the session.

There is no “right” way to move or feel. Awareness and honest feedback are enough

Before your session

  • Try not to schedule intense workouts right before or after

  • Avoid booking during heavy training or competition periods if possible

  • Allow your body space to receive and adapt

Scheduling

  • Best results come from completing all 3 sessions

  • Typically:

    • 1 session per week, or

    • 3 sessions within 2 weeks

If you're unsure, you can always start with one session and decide from there.

How to Prepare

This work is different from massage. Rather than focusing only on temporary relief, Structural Bodyworks looks at how the body organizes as a whole over time.

You may notice:

  • Subtle changes in how you stand or move

  • Less effort in everyday movement

  • Shifts that continue between sessions

Many clients begin this work because of pain, tension, or recurring discomfort. If you are currently in pain, we may not move directly into the full 3-series approach right away.

Our first priority is helping your body feel safer, more supported, and less reactive.

This may include:

  • Reducing irritation or guarding

  • Improving comfort and movement tolerance

  • Helping the body settle before deeper structural work begins

From there, the 3-series can help support longer term change by addressing the underlying movement and support patterns that may contribute to recurring discomfort over time.

This process is not about forcing change. It’s about helping the body gradually move away from old compensations and toward better organization and support.

There is nothing you need to “do” in between.
Awareness, observation, and allowing the process to unfold are often enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Anatomy Trains 3-Series is a focused, three-session bodywork program that helps relieve pain and improve posture by working with your body’s connective tissue — called fascia. It’s designed to help you move more easily, stand taller, and feel less pain by addressing the root cause of tension patterns instead of just the symptoms.

  • Fascia is a continuous web of connective tissue that wraps around and links every muscle, bone, and organ in your body. It supports your posture, movement, and even your circulation. When fascia becomes tight or restricted from injury, stress, or poor posture, it can pull your body out of alignment and cause chronic pain. The 3-Series helps restore healthy movement and balance through the fascial network.

  • While massage focuses on relaxing specific muscles and chiropractic care adjusts the joints, Structural Integration works on the whole body pattern. It releases and re-educates the fascial system so your body can move as one connected, efficient structure. The result is deeper and longer-lasting relief from chronic or recurring pain.

  • Each session builds on the one before it:

    • Session 1: Focuses on your foundation — feet, legs, and pelvis — rebalancing your base and restoring the foot tripod for better support.

    • Session 2: Frees the upper body — chest, shoulders, and neck — improving posture, breathing, and mobility.

    • Session 3: Integrates it all — aligning the spine and connecting upper and lower body for smoother, pain-free movement.

  • You may feel lighter, more balanced, or more aware of your posture and movement. Some clients feel immediate relief, while others notice gradual improvement as their body adjusts. Mild soreness (similar to a workout) is normal and usually passes within a day or two as your fascia continues to release and reorganize. Drinking water and gentle movement after your session help the body integrate changes.

  • Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows your therapist to see how your body moves.

    • For women: sports bra and athletic shorts or leggings.

    • For men: athletic or compression shorts.
Avoid baggy shirts or thick fabrics — this work involves visual assessment and guided movement.

  • The Anatomy Trains 3-Series is suitable for adults of all ages, and even for teenagers with postural issues or sports imbalances. It can be adapted for seniors, athletes, or anyone recovering from chronic strain. The work is always customized for each individual’s comfort and ability.

  • Most clients benefit from completing the three sessions within 3–6 weeks to allow the body to adapt between treatments. Some choose to repeat the 3-Series a few times a year for continued improvement or maintenance. Afterward, you may continue with single tune-up sessions or progress to a full 12-Series Structural Integration program for deeper transformation.

  • Anyone dealing with chronic or recurring pain, stiffness, or posture-related discomfort — especially those who haven’t found lasting relief from massage, PT, or chiropractic care. It’s also great for athletes, desk workers, and anyone looking to improve alignment, breathing, and movement efficiency.
